I did promise to blog regularly but I haven't been blogging since mid of Feb. That is unfortunate but life has gotten busy like hell these days. What prompted me to take out 5 mins and write this entry is the type of news I've been reading over the past few days.
After I saw Obama's inauguration ceremony I posted an entry on this blog mentioned that I think the only change is the color of the skin of the US president. Unfortunately, it seems that my prediction is turning out to be true and so soon.
Obama is still in his honeymoon period and he has made some interesting decisions. He did over-turn a lot of things that Bush had started. He sent a Nauroz message to Iranians, he tries to show that his first priority is the welfare of the people and the revival of the economy and that he wants to get out of Iraq as soon as possible. However, despite all that, it seems he will eventually be following the policy that all US presidents have followed. As mentioned in my earlier post, the president will always work within the boundaries of a circle which he cannot cross, no matter what happens.
Lets see what happens at the end of Obama's 100 days. Keep watching the events unfold.

And he walked....
MashAllah. Ali Mesum finally walked on his own yesterday. It was an awesome experience. He had been wanting to walk for a few days now and finally yesterday, he decided it was time to let go of his fears.
To be a father to a 1-year old kid is such a special feeling. It is certainly God's blessing that he bestows upon his creatures. Every event, every new thing is such an amazing feeling. To see him walk like that and to be so confident, I couldn't help but thank my ALLAH on his blessings.
Now we await his first words. He does speak words like "ma-ma", "ba-ba", "da-da", "ta-ta" (meaning bye-bye) and "khatam" (pronounced in a unique way - meaning finish). But still he speaks it when he hears us speak it (although he seems to like the word "ta-ta" a lot - he always wants to go out).
I'll post some more pictures of Ali Mesum soon.

Ali's Birthday
My son Ali Mesum is mashaAllah 1 full year old. Infact he turned 1 on 6th February 2009. He was born around 3.30 pm on 6th February 2008. The day he was born is one of the most memorable of life (and I am sure it will remain so).
When my son was born, his lungs were not fully developed and he had to be kept in N.I.C.U. That day was one of the coldest in the history of the city of Karachi. Spending that night on the floor of a medical center and checking up on my kid every hour was a life-changing experience. To be a dad is one of the world's most amazing feeling.
I am posting a couple of pictures of Ali Mesum. Due to the observance of the mourning period of Kerbala (its the Islamic month of Safar these days), we did not celebrate his birthday. It was just the three of us (mama, papa and baba) with the cake.

Obama's inauguration
I watched Obama's inauguration yesterday night. It was magestic. Obama promises so much and it is almost unfortunate to see that he has taken up the office that can do so much yet is never allowed to work according to their wishes.
US presidents work inside a circle. The boundaries of this circle may not be breached. Like other presidents before him, Obama cannot breach this circle's boundaries. The "Change" that everyone talks about may be the change in the color of the skin of the president and little more than that.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions of course and I'll be happier than most if real "change" comes to the USA. But I do not expect much to change in reality.
Prayers for the oppressed of the world.
